Two men were killed Saturday night when their golf cart collided with a pickup truck in southern Dickinson Co. Investigators say the 2009 Yamaha golf cart was heading south in the 500 block of Rain Road around 9:30 p.m. when the driver, 28-year-old Lucas Hicks, of Herington, made an abrupt turn in front of an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado. The truck, driven by 27 year old Craig Banman, of Hillsboro, struck the front quarter-panel of the golf cart. Hicks, and his passenger 26-year-old Casey Schardein of Hope, were pronounced dead at the scene, the Dickinson Co. Sheriff’s Office said. Banman was not hurt. Investigators noted all three people knew each other and they were reportedly part of a bachelor party in the area. An autopsy is pending in the case. The Sheriff’s Office says, while they are still investigating, their preliminary investigation indicates alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
